  • Is it safe to have reflexology treatments while I am pregnant?
Yes, but only if treatments are carried out by a Reflexologist trained in specialised maternity techniques. Certain areas on the feet need to be avoided during pregnancy and you should choose a practitioner who has had the necessary training and is skilled in this field.
  • What happens during a treatment?
A reflexology treatment will be carried out on bare feet and will take place while you relax on a couch or reclining chair. Most people find the sensation pleasant and soothing, though occasionally some discomfort may be felt. This could indicate an imbalance in a corresponding part of the body and will ease as the session progresses. After the treatment you should feel comfortably relaxed and calm.
  • How long will a treatment session last?
You should allow up to two hours for your initial appointment. I will ask you questions about your lifestyle, diet, health and medical history, and there will be time to discuss any issues that are of concern to you before the treatment begins. Subsequent appointments will be for one hour.
  • How many treatments will I need?
It really depends on each individual. Initially I suggest that a new patient has two treatments, perhaps a week apart, so that I can monitor carefully the effect the first treatment has had. Thereafter weekly or fortnightly treatments would be very beneficial, if finances allow. However many patients attend on a monthly basis and find this keeps them in optimum health.

For long-term health issues an ongoing course of more frequent treatments may be necessary, and for sub-fertility problems I will need to see patients at different times of their menstrual cycle, to increase the chances of good results.
  • I can't bear the thought of having my feet touched. Does reflexology tickle?
Your sensitivity probably stems from a member of your family tickling your feet during childhood! The pressure used during a treatment will be gentle but firm and should not tickle even the most sensitive feet.
  • What do you charge per session?
The first session will involve a free 30 minute consultation so that I can look at your medical history, your lifestyle, home and working environment and other elements. Please bring your maternity notes if relevant to you.

The hands on therapy will be 50 minutes and the cost is £30. Follow-up sessions will be £30 for a 50 minute session and £15 for a 25 minute session.
